The Fat Pig Hog Roasting company is a $$ barbecue casual restaurant in Lagos rated 5.0/5 by 9 TripAdvisor reviewers; reservations recommended.

About

The Fat Pig operates out of Almadena, a village outside Lagos in the western Algarve, and it's exactly what the name suggests — a hog roasting company that does catering and events. The perfect scores across food, value, service, and atmosphere come from a small group of nine reviews, but the consistency is real: roast pork done over coals, brought to your party or served at theirs. Mid-range pricing makes sense when you're paying for the whole animal and the setup, not just a plate. This isn't a walk-in restaurant with posted hours. You book them for weddings, family gatherings, or estate dinners where the centerpiece is a slow-roasted pig. The format works if you've got the numbers and want something less formal than a catering hall but more memorable than a buffet line.

Algarve By Segway

Algarve By Segway runs tours out of Jardim Manuel Bivar in Faro, and the 5/5 rating across 924 reviews puts it near the top of what people actually book. The format is straightforward: electric Segways through the old town, around the marina, and sometimes out to Ria Formosa depending on the route. Guides tend to be local, which matters when you're rolling past buildings that all look the same until someone explains what you're looking at. The volume of reviews suggests consistent operation, and the perfect rating holds because the company runs tight groups and doesn't oversell time slots. Most tours are under two hours, which is about right before your feet start complaining on the platform. If you've never been on a Segway, they do a practice loop first—it takes about three minutes to feel stable. Faro isn't hilly, so it's easier than it would be up in Sintra or Lisbon's Alfama.

my tours

My Tours runs out of a storefront in Faro, and with one five-star review, there's not much track record to lean on yet. What's here: a local operator offering guided experiences around the Algarve capital and nearby coast. The perfect rating suggests someone had a good day, but a single data point doesn't tell you much about consistency, group size, or what they actually do well. Faro gets less attention than the beach towns west of it, which can work in your favor if you want to skip the Albufeira crowds. The old town, the Ria Formosa lagoon, and the barrier islands are all worth time. Whether My Tours is the right fit depends on what they're running when you're there and how their offerings compare to more established operators with deeper review histories. If you book, confirm details directly — schedule, meeting point, what's included — and decide if the newness feels like discovery or risk.

Delhi Darbar

Delhi Darbar is an Indian restaurant in Lagos with over 2,600 reviews holding a 4.7 rating — unusually consistent scores across food, value, service, and atmosphere. That kind of alignment in a beach town full of grilled fish suggests they've locked in what they do. The menu is Indian, the pricing sits mid-range, and the place runs family-friendly, which matters in Lagos where most dining skews either backpacker casual or resort formal. The value subrating at 4.6 means portions and pricing aren't out of line, a practical detail when you're trying to feed more than two people without blowing the day's budget. It's on Largo das Portas de Portugal, which puts you a few blocks inland from the marina — close enough to walk after a boat tour, far enough that it's not pulling tourist overflow from the waterfront. No reservation required, though peak summer dinner service can stack up.

Casa Do Prego

Casa Do Prego is a casual Portuguese spot in central Lagos that draws consistent crowds without the usual tourist markup. The 4.8 service and atmosphere scores stand out in a town where kitchen chaos can derail otherwise solid meals — here the pace is steady and the staff works clean. They do Portuguese classics without pretense, and the value rating at 4.5 suggests portions justify the mid-range pricing. The dining room fills up most nights, but reservations aren't required if you're willing to wait or eat early. It's kid-friendly without being a children's menu factory, which in Lagos summer season can be hard to find. The food rating matches the overall at 4.6, meaning execution is consistent across the menu rather than propped up by one or two standout dishes. If you want proper Portuguese cooking in Lagos without hunting down a locals-only tasca or paying beachfront prices, this is a reasonable middle ground. Cash and card both work.

Restaurante Ruccula

Restaurante Ruccula is tucked into a side street in Alvor, a former fishing village on the western Algarve coast. The 4.8 food rating comes from a kitchen that leans Italian but doesn't ignore the local catch — expect fresh fish alongside homemade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and whatever the chef decides is worth running that day. The menu shifts, but the execution stays tight. Mid-range pricing means you're not overpaying for the setting, which is casual and unpretentious — outdoor tables, close quarters, no fuss. Service scores nearly as high as the food, and that's not typical for a tourist beach town in July. Lines form early in summer, especially weekends. Reservations help. If you're staying in Portimão or Lagos and want something better than the beachfront lineup, this is the move.

Occidental Faro

Occidental Faro sits right on the central plaza in Faro's Old Town, which means you're walking distance to the marina, the cathedral, and the train station south to the beaches. The 4.7 location rating is the headline here — not common for a chain property to land this well. Service scores highest among the subratings at 4.2, and cleanliness comes in at 4.4, so the operation runs tight despite the 2,000+ reviews. The rooms and value scores are lower, both under 4.0, which tracks for a mid-tier resort in a historic building footprint. You're trading space and modern finishes for the address. Most guests using Faro as a base for day trips to the islands or as a one-night airport stop seem fine with that trade. If you want a beachfront resort experience, this isn't it — Faro's coast is across the lagoon. But if you want to skip the taxi and walk to dinner in the old quarter, the placement works.
