Restaurante Hexagone is a $$ international & european upscale restaurant in Carvoeiro rated 4.7/5 by 703 TripAdvisor reviewers; walk-ins welcome.

About

Hexagone operates out of a residential development just inland from Carvoeiro center, which sounds odd until you realize the chef's cooking French and European technique at mid-range prices on the Algarve coast. The 4.7 food rating and 4.8 service score are backed by over 700 reviews, so the formula clearly works. The menu skews international with European roots—expect refined plating and careful execution without the beachfront markup. Service runs smooth enough that regulars book ahead even though reservations aren't strictly required. The atmosphere rating sits at 4.5, which for a spot tucked into a housing complex is respectable—they've made the room work. It's also kid-friendly, which is rare for this style of cooking in the area. Value comes in at 4.4, meaning you're paying fairly for what arrives on the plate. If you want something closer to fine dining without the Michelin posturing or the clifftop prices, Hexagone does the job.

Tours & things to do nearby

Sidecar Tours by Bike My Side

Sidecar Tours by Bike My Side runs vintage-sidecar rides out of Portimão, and the 5/5 across 128 reviews suggests they've nailed the format. You're not driving — you're sitting in the sidecar while a guide handles the bike, which means you can actually look around instead of white-knuckling through roundabouts. The routes head into the Algarve backcountry: coastal cliffs, cork farms, villages that don't see tour buses. It's more about access than speed. The perfect rating is unusual for an activity provider, especially at that review volume. That consistency usually points to tight operations — reliable booking, guides who know the roads, gear that works. Expect helmets, some commentary, and stops for photos. Tours run a few hours, and the format works if you want countryside views without renting a car or joining a coach tour.

Gurkha Kitchen

Gurkha Kitchen serves Nepalese and Indian food in Carvoeiro, a few blocks uphill from the beach. The 4.8 rating across nearly 3,000 reviews suggests they've figured something out — the food subrating is 4.9, and service matches it. The menu leans on curries, momos, and tandoor items, and the place runs casual enough that you can bring kids without second-guessing it. Mid-range pricing and a 4.7 value score mean portions are generous and the bill doesn't spike. The atmosphere rating is solid but not precious; expect tables close together and a neighborhood vibe, not a date-night setup. No reservations required, which is useful in summer when half of Carvoeiro is queuing somewhere. Go early or expect a wait.

Le Crô

Le Crô is a tapas spot in Carvoeiro that runs upscale without the fuss. The 4.8 rating across 2,000+ reviews holds across all four subratings, which is unusual — food, service, value, and atmosphere all land in the same tight range. That consistency suggests a kitchen and front-of-house that know exactly what they're doing. The Portuguese tapas format means smaller plates built for sharing, and the mid-range price tier makes sense when you're ordering several rounds. Reservations are required, and the vibe skews adult — this isn't the place to bring kids who need to move around. The service rating of 4.9 is the standout number here, higher than the food itself, which tells you the staff runs the room well. If you want a controlled, well-executed meal in Carvoeiro and you're comfortable with the tapas rhythm, it delivers.

Villa Medici

Villa Medici is an Italian and Mediterranean spot on the road up to the Alfanzina lighthouse in Carvoeiro. The 4.5 food rating across 2,200+ reviews stands out—most mid-range places in the Algarve don't hold that high a score at that volume. The kitchen leans Italian with some Mediterranean crossover, and people seem to agree it works. The atmosphere and service both sit around 4.4, which tracks with the casual vibe and the fact that you can bring kids without making a production out of it. No reservation required, though that probably depends on the season. Value comes in at 4.0, which is fair for the price tier—you're paying for consistent execution and the lighthouse-area location, not for bargain pizza. It's a reliable pick if you're staying near Carvoeiro and want something that isn't seafood or piri-piri chicken for the third night in a row.

Tivoli Carvoeiro Algarve Resort

Tivoli Carvoeiro sits on the cliffs above Vale do Covo beach in Carvoeiro, one of the Algarve's more contained resort towns. The 4.7 location score makes sense—ocean views are plentiful, and the property isn't fighting sargassum like some Atlantic-facing stretches farther west. Ratings are solid across the board, with service and cleanliness outpacing the rooms themselves. Sleep quality edges higher than the general room rating, which usually means decent soundproofing and beds but maybe dated fixtures or layout quirks. Value sits at 4.1, fair for a full-service resort in high season but not a screaming deal. The setting is the draw. Carvoeiro's beach cove is walkable, and the clifftop perch gives you sunset angles without the chaos of Albufeira or Lagos. If you want a resort base that feels more village than strip, this does the job.

Carvoeiro

Monte Santo Resort

Monte Santo Resort sits just outside the center of Carvoeiro, close enough to walk to the clifftop trails but far enough back to feel removed. The rooms rating—4.8 out of 5—is the standout here, well above the overall score, which suggests they've spent the money where it matters. Sleep quality follows at 4.7, so if you're trying to recover from Lisbon transit noise, this is built for that. The resort skews quiet and couples-oriented. Service comes in at 4.2, which is solid but not fawning, and the location rating of 4.0 reflects the trade-off: you're not on the beach or in the village square, but you're also not fighting for parking or dealing with tour groups at breakfast. The value rating sits at 4.3, reasonable for the Algarve's hotel pricing in high season. If you want central Carvoeiro action, you'll walk ten minutes or drive two. If you want a base that resets between beach days, the room quality makes the case.

Carvoeiro

Pestana Palm Gardens

Pestana Palm Gardens is a resort in Carvoeiro, on the Algarve's southern coast where sargassum doesn't blow in. The 4.5 service rating runs a notch higher than the others, and the cleanliness score matches it — the kind of gap that suggests the staff takes pride in the details. Rooms and sleep quality both sit at 4.3, which is solid for a property at this scale. The location rating of 4.4 reflects Carvoeiro's appeal: you're close enough to the clifftop village center to walk for dinner, but the resort itself is set back in the quieter Vale de Centeanes area. The value score of 4.2 suggests pricing is fair but not a steal, which tracks for an established Pestana property in high season. If you want Algarve coast access without the seaweed worry and prefer a resort that leans on service over novelty, this fits.

Taste

Taste is tucked into a residential block just uphill from Carvoeiro's beach cove, and it pulls solid numbers—1,690 reviews at 4.4 overall, with food hitting 4.5. The menu runs international with a seafood and vegetarian backbone, plus gluten-free options that aren't an afterthought. It's casual enough to bring kids, but the atmosphere rating suggests they've kept the room from feeling like a family cafeteria. Mid-range pricing with a 4.3 value score means portions likely justify the tab. Service holds steady at 4.4, which matters when you're juggling dietary tweaks or sharing plates. No reservation required, so it works as a fallback when the beachfront spots are slammed, but that also means summer evenings could mean a wait.

Carvoeiro

Earth Shop & Cafe

Earth Shop & Cafe sits on Rua das Flores in the center of Carvoeiro, a block up from the beach cove. It's half cafe, half casual restaurant, with Portuguese and international plates that lean vegetable-forward without being precious about it. The 4.8 food rating comes from execution that's a notch above what you'd expect at the price point — mid-range here means €12–18 mains, and the kitchen doesn't cut corners. The vibe is light and easy, tables spill onto the pedestrian street in decent weather, and families show up as often as couples. Service moves at a reasonable clip without hovering. It's also one of the few spots in Carvoeiro where you can grab a smoothie bowl at 10 a.m. and then come back for grilled fish at 7 p.m. without feeling like you're in the wrong place either time. No reservations needed, but summer lunch can fill up fast when the tour groups roll through town.
