AVEIRO and COSTA NOVA + Church of Válega and Mr. da Pedra from Porto is a cultural tour in Portugal rated 5.0/5 by 18 Viator travelers; from about $179 per person; lasts 7.5 hours.

About

This is a 7-to-8-hour private tour from Porto south to Aveiro and the coast. You get picked up and driven down the A1, first stop the baroque chapel at Válega (Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição), which is wrapped floor-to-ceiling in azulejo tilework—mostly blue and white geometric patterns, some figurative panels—and then on to Aveiro itself. Aveiro's the canals-and-moliceiro-boats town; the tour includes time on the water and a walk through the Art Nouveau district. From there you cross to Costa Nova, the beach village with the striped wooden houses that show up in every Portugal photo grid. The tour also mentions a stop at the Mira de Pedra Chapel on the beach in Miramar. Eighteen Viator reviews give it five stars. The price starts around $180 per person, which is steep but standard for private full-day tours out of Porto. If you're traveling solo or as a couple, check whether they'll pair you with another booking to split the cost—sometimes they do, sometimes they won't say until you ask.
